Friends of Nursery Row Park Meeting Notes 08/06/15
Attendees: Katie, Alvin, Jon, David, Nicole, Steph, Jim; apologies Jim
Event 13th June 2015
Under control, need to answer questions about number of attendees and how it benefited them. Music, farm, bees and clay tent under control, need face painter and key for Orb St gate. Publicity to follow from last weekend’s leafletting with giving out postcards at primary schools.
Our grant application to E&C Community Fund was not successful – we need to look for other sources of funding as few local groups seem to have received event funding this year, and still very keen to host a culture mash event.
Plaza Latina will be back on the first three Saturdays in August
Our autumn event will be on Sunday 27th September this year, working with The Challenge Organisation.
Action: Luke to discuss dog show with Nina and Shelagh. Post meeting note: Nina also suggested that we could think of a falconry display – as part of an attempt to reduce the mess from the pigeons.
To ask the Play Rangers to come back to the park in August – David to review options for teacher attendance.
Cleaner Greener Safer update
BT have reduced their quote from £8k to £3k for the removal of the two BT phone boxes blocking the entrance to the park. Arqiva still being difficult as well. Katie mentioned that the puddle in the corner is a result of a leaking pipe, not just rain, and we need to stop this to eliminate the puddle.
Covers for the EDF boxes are agreed to by EDF. We discussed the designs circulated by the CGS project manager and agreed that the market, fruit, a view of the park (perhaps a view of the girders, or of the city from the hill) would be good. And also to use the NRP logo (not with “Friends of”) on the outside to give the park a bigger presence.
Steph and Jim asked the Friends to circulate Friends of the Earth campaign postcards to lobby for solar power in schools.
